Gratin Dauphinoise is a French dish, made of thinly sliced potatoes, cooked in cream and garlic.  The cream thickens with the starch from the potato to create the creamy sauce, which contrasts with the crunchy top.  its a perfect dish on its own or as a side dish that goes with absolutely everything!
